AND what is so rare as a day in June?
Then, if ever, come perfect days;
Then Heaven tries earth if it be in tune,
And over it softly her warm ear lays;
A short trip around our area. In Washington County we met a six year old girl and her grandmother taking care of an old cemetery. We met a curious donkey and lunched in Jonesborough, then drove to Damascus, VA over curvy roads, stopping for a walk on the Appalachian Trail at Cross Mountain near Shady Valley, TN. We talked briefly with three through hikers. Walking the trail through the beautiful meadow atop Cross Mountain on this day was a wonderful experience that the photographs do not come close to capturing. I have added some images of an evening on Cross Mountain a few days later.
